Lost in Frenchlation is relocating at a new cinema in the heart of the Latin Quarter for ONE TIME ONLY! In ‘Tromperie’ the writer Philip encounters several women and have conversations about life, sex, literature… One of the lovers is played by Lea Seydoux (also current in ‘No Time To Die’). But we are never sure what’s real and what’s not. Luckily, we have teamed up with the director Arnaud Desplechin, who’ll talk about some of the questions after the film.

“American novelist, Philip, lives in London with his wife. He also has a love affair with a married English woman nearly half his age, who he partly uses to gather material for his next masterpiece. When one day the wife finds his notebooks, Philip tries to explain that the affair was all made up. And we start to wonder – was it in fact so? The film is an adaptation of Philip Roth’s auto fictional work of 1990, and it was presented at this year’s Cannes Film festival.” – Synopsis

“Creative in that beautifully enchanting Desplechin way.” – Cineuropa

“The film is handsomely crafted, with the cinematographer often playing up the material’s staginess with isolating, warmly shadowed closeups, and thoughtfully acted across the board”– Variety
